Frequently Asked Questions

Questions We Hear at Every Gate

We’ve worked with hundreds of homeowners — many tackling a landscape project for the first time. Below are the most common questions, answered honestly.

Investment & Budget

What do native gardens cost?

Our full-scale projects typically range from $50,000-$500,000k. Investment depends on site complexity, design scope, and materials. We price transparently so you know where every dollar goes.

Why do landscape projects cost what they do?

Landscaping involves skilled trades, machinery, materials, permits, project management and weeks of labour. Everything is tailored to your specific site. It’s one of your biggest home investments after the house itself.

Can we do the project in stages?

Yes. We can design the whole garden then build in phases as budget allows. Many clients tackle front garden first, back garden later.

Process & Timeline

How long does a complete project take?

From first consultation to final planting: typically 2-6 months, depending on scope and complexity. We’ll give you a clear timeline early on.

What happens if weather delays construction?

We adjust. Tassie weather is unpredictable. If delays hit, we communicate quickly and reschedule for the next suitable window.

How involved do I need to be?

Your choice. We’ll flag key decisions but otherwise can run autonomously. Most clients enjoy being part of the process without the stress of managing it.

Native Plants & Design

Will native gardens look messy?

Not when designed properly. We create structure with mass plantings, defined edges, careful species selection. Native can be as formal or relaxed as you want.

Are native gardens just green?

No. Burgundy pepperberry, silver poas, yellow wattles, pink boronias. Plus bark textures, seed pods, grasses that catch light. There’s huge variety in form and colour.

Can I have some non-natives?

We specialise exclusively in native gardens yet we do maintain some flexibility here. Fruit trees and other edibles for example, or some exotics, play well with natives to a degree. Native gardens are our expertise and passion. For mixed gardens, we might have to talk to you a bit more about that.

Maintenance & Aftercare

Are native gardens really low maintenance?

Every garden does require some maintenance. Natives are lower maintenance than exotic gardens. Once established, however, they require less water, fewer chemicals, less fuss. But they still need seasonal care to look their best.

What maintenance do natives need?

Seasonal pruning, mulch top-ups, occasional weeding. Different species need different care at different times. We can teach you or handle it for you.

Do you provide maintenance services?

Yes. We offer ongoing maintenance programs tailored to your garden’s needs and preferences.
